We will read lots of English books and write everyday.  Everybody will begin with simple books containing both English and Japanese.

You will read books at home.  Sometimes you will read alone and sometimes you will read with your mother.  Your mother will make sure you understand all of  the words and sentences.  But you will quickly advance to more difficult books.

Our ultimate goal is for your to read young adult books for teenagers like Harry Potter, The Lightning Thief, The Hunger Games, Twilight, The Giver, The Fault in Our Stars, City of Bones, Divergent, The Book Thief and more.  You will probably read hundreds and hundreds of books at JELI.

We will also write everyday.  There will always be homework so you will improve very fast.  First, we will learn how to write the alphabet, both lowercase letters and uppercase letters.  Plus, we will learn numbers.

It is important to understand basic English such as days of the week, months and dates.  We will slowly build our vocabulary with colors, shapes, sports, animals, food, holidays and more.  As our vocabulary increases, we will write sentences, not words.  Little by little, we will begin writing longer sentences with more difficult vocabulary words.

Once your vocabulary and writing ability expands, it’s time to write in a daily journal or diary.  Your mother will check your daily journal or diary.

We will constantly review your knowledge with quizzes and worksheets.
